Rose Pauls told police she was jogging on April 2 in Clarksville when she was attacked by a man and woman who robbed her.
A Tennessee woman who told police she was robbed while out jogging was arrested on Tuesday after investigators say she fabricated the story and had actually been out drinking at the time of the alleged attack.
Rose Pauls, 31, claimed to police that she was running down Nat Hoosier Lane, in Clarksville, during the evening of April 2, when two assailants sprung out from the darkness and robbed her.
She told officers she was grabbed by a man and woman who ‘punched her and demanded everything she had,’ including her jewelry, before fleeing the scene in a car.
Pauls waited until the next day to report the attack, authorities said, after she allegedly got treatment for ‘injuries to her face and arms’.
Clarksville police declined to speculate what they believe the suspect’s motive is for allegedly inventing the attack or whether Pauls had actually been assaulted or robbed during their believed version of events.
She currently remains in custody at the Montgomery County Jail and has been charged with filing a false police report.
Pauls’ bond is currently set at $5,000.
Why? Surely she knew people in the town would know she was at the bar? Had she blown her rent money? Slept with someone else? What? #YoJussieYouGotAPenPal
