A 40-year-old Nebraska man has been sentenced to two years in prison for having sex with, and marrying, his 21-year-old biological daughter.
Travis Fieldgrove learned his fate on Thursday, a month after pleading no contest to a charge of attempted incest in Hall County.
Travis Fieldgrove and Samantha Kershner were married October 2018, in Hastings.
Fieldgrove and his daughter, Samantha Kershner, were both arrested on incest charges in February in Hastings, Nebraska, after police received a tip about their sexual relationship.
Police said the father and daughter both admitted to having a romantic and sexual relationship, even though they knew they were biologically related, and Kershner said she competed for her dad’s affection with her half-sister.

They got married on October 1, a month after finding out they were under investigation by police.
Fieldgrove initially was charged with committing incest, a felony. But under a plea agreement, he pled no contest in April to a charge of attempt ed incest.
Under the plea agreement, the prosecutor and public defender made a joint recommendation that Fieldgrove be sentenced to two years in jail.
Both sides agree that incest was committed, a fact proven by DNA tests.
At his sentencing hearing on Thursday, Fieldgrove’s defense attorney, Jeff Loeffler, told the court his client is ‘very embarrassed’ by what happened and wishes it never happened.
