The woman had asked supremacist protesters holding Holt back to ‘let her go. let her say whatever she wanted to say’
A woman has been fired from her job after she proudly brandished her white supremacist bonafides in a video that has gone viral. She is clearly heard yelling racial slurs at Black Lives Matter protesters attending a rally in Elizabethton, a small historic college town in the north eastern part of Tennessee.
The woman seen venting in the video, Sonya Holt, is no longer an employee at the Keith Family Vision Clinic in Johnson City, her ex-bosses have confirmed.
Holt was stripped of her job after video footage went viral over the weekend that shows her repeatedly chanting: ‘White lives matter, white lives are better’.
She can also be heard saying: ‘White lives matter you black crazy twisted person’.

The standing man next to Holt adds ‘get the f**k out of our way’.
The young woman had asked the other counter-protesters holding Holt back to ‘let her go. Let her say whatever she wanted to say, ‘ Sierra Gilmer told the people beside Holt. Demonstrators for the New Panther Initiative, a Black Lives Matter group, had gathered at Covered Bright Park in Elizabethton to protest against racial inequality and police brutality over the weekend.

But counter-protesters, including Holt, flocked to the scene to jeer at demonstrators as they entered the park. It is also alleged that Holt made a series of homophobic slurs and told protesters they would ‘burn in hell’.
At some point the counter-protesters start chanting USA! USA! Teenager and activist Sierra Gilmer, who shot the footage, said she wasn’t surprised at Holt’s behavior. ‘The biggest thing to take away from this is just to realize that racism is in your community however much you think it might not be,’ she told News WCYB5. ‘There are a lot of people that reached out to me saying that they didn’t realize that this was happening in Elizabethton and they didn’t realize there were people there like that.’
The face of hate or the rage of long-standing entitlement? It is also alleged that Holt made a series of homophobic slurs and told protesters they would ‘burn in hell’
The rally is just one of the hundreds held across the globe in the wake of the death of George Floyd, an unarmed 46-year-old black man who was killed when three police officers knelt on his body, one of them on his neck, for nearly nine minutes as he pled for his life before losing consciousness and expiring. The mind-numbing spectacle that occurred in Minneapolis in May has created an awareness of inequities in policing in the country and the strong undercurrents of barely hidden racial tensions in society.
Surprisingly despite the jeers filmed at the BLM rally in Elizabethton, demonstrators tried to engage in dialogue with counter-protesters throughout the rally, which lasted around three hours.
