A Texas tutor will spend two decades behind bars for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy and telling a 13-year-old girl to perform oral sex on him while she watched.
Leticia Lowery pled guilty last week to second-degree sexual assault of a child and first-degree sexual performance by a child.
The former Montgomery County teacher has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the sex assault of a teenage boy and other predatory crimes in violation of Texas law, Click 2 Houston reports.
Admitting to her sex crimes on Tuesday as a part of the plea deal with the county, 40-year-old Lowery, copped to second-degree sexual assault of a child and first-degree sexual performance by a child.
The case first came to light last November when the boy’s mother found texts on his phone from the teacher that were ‘sexual in nature’.
It then emerged that the pair had sex on November 1, 2019, at Lowery’s home.
The married teacher is also accused of an act of pedophillic sexual voyeurism, one made all the more shocking by the fact that she was a teacher entrusted to look after children’s best interests.

An investigation revealed that she had not only assaulted her then 14-year-old male victim, but once picked him up along with his 13-year-old girlfriend and ordered the girl to perform oral sex on him in a van while she watched.
Next, Lowery dropped off the girl at a friend’s place and then drove back to with the boy, where she sexually assaulted him on a couch.
Lowery did not teach at a school but ran a private tutoring business out of her home. She was arrested by authorities in Montgomery County last November.
She is also facing charges in Harris County for allegedly texting inappropriate photos of herself to a different 15-year-old boy. Lowery was sending sexually explicit images and videos to a 15-year-old through an app, the D.A.’s Office said.
Investigators said Lowery and the teen had conversations that were also sexually explicit. She allegedly told her intended victim that she would do ‘whatever he was comfortable with’.
During an interview, Lowery admitted she conversed with the teen, but denied any sexual advances.
The boy involved in this second case is the son of a family friend who she was tutoring. Investigators said the teen’s parents found the sexually explicit content on the teen’s phone and called police.
She was charged with trying to solicit sex with a minor.
That case has not yet been resolved. It also carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence.

Assistant District Attorney Laura Bond expressed satisfaction with former Lowery’s plea deal, saying, “It prevented the children involved that she victimized and sexually assaulted from having to testify and I think that’s a win all day.”
Highlighting the psychically damaging effects of the former teacher’s sexual abuse of at least one teenage boy, Bond said, “I think oftentimes when people hear about [sexual] offenses that are committed by a female against a male child, people tend to minimize it but the effect on the child is still the same.”
