The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, reports that home school teacher Alisa Andrews pled guilty on Monday at court in Bentonville to sex assault charges.
Andrews, 52, admitted she was in a sexual relationship with the teen girl, who was a student of hers.
The 17-year-old victim said Andrews was her biology teacher the semester before their relationship began, but was not her teacher when the affair started, according to a police affidavit.
Andrews was sentenced Monday to four months in jail and 10 years of probation after she admitted to sexually assaulting the teenage girl.
She was also ordered to register as a sex offender and has been barred from contacting minors outside of her own children.
The prosecution read a victim impact statement from the teenager at sentencing on Monday.
“I know now that none of this is my fault, and I want you to know that you have no power over me any more,” deputy prosecutor Sara Rhinehart read of the victim impact statement.
“I’m no longer the broken girl I was. You don’t know anything about the person I am today, and you never will. I hope you know I don’t forgive you, and I hope I never do.”
The girl said she had to deal with severe mental and emotional trauma and was suicidal. She said she’s been in therapy and the crime may impact her for the rest of her life.
The girl’s parents said she told them she’d been having a sexual relationship with Andrews, who teaches a biology class at Rogers Christian Church to a small group of teens, according to a probable cause affidavit.
According to a police investigation, the Arkansas home school teacher was sex abusing the teen girl over a period of nine months.

Police began investigating two years ago after a pastor reported a home school teacher was said to be in an inappropriate relationship with a student, an affidavit stated.
Andrews was taken into custody in October 2019 in connection with first-degree sexual assault — a Class A felony, facing a possible sentece of 30 years behind bars.
Police reportedly found evidence indicating abuse, including a handwritten note and several text messages that confirmed the teenager’s account. The teen victim told investigators that she had attempted to end their relationship several times, but couldn’t do so because Andrews threatened to kill herself each time.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the home school teacher had made any additional comments in court about the sex abuse other than her guilty plea.
Andrews had also worked as a director in community theater where she mounted an annual production with child actors. The outlet reported that the woman shared a cryptic post to her social media prior to her arrest, writing “my story is filled with broken pieces, terrible choices, and ugly truths.”
“It is also filled with a major comeback, peace in my soul and a grace that saved my life,” Andrews wrote.
Her alleged victim told police that she had begun having sex with Andrews in March, and that she knew the relationship was inappropriate.
