Alabama police have slammed eight suspects accused of beating, raping and shooting to death a 20-year-old mother in a ‘killing that shocks the conscience’.
Mother-of-one Mahogany Jaquise Jackson, 20, was stripped, handcuffed, spit on and forced to perform sex acts at gunpoint in a Birmingham apartment before being shot in the back of the head on Sunday February 25.
Prosecutors say she was tortured by four male and four female ‘acquaintances’ who filmed sections of the attack which the assailants shared on social media. She leaves behind a three-year-old daughter.
Jackson’s mother is pleading with the public to desist from sending her the videos, saying: ‘We are suffering enough, that’s my child’.
Jefferson County District Attorney Danny Carr adds: ‘To see it reenacted on a video – it almost places you there, and then to see people share it over and over, and I know some people may be sharing it for entertainment value or whatever, which is sad in and of itself.’

Authorities condemned the callous behavior of the gang of assassins. ‘This is a case that shocks the conscience. This is not your normal case—and I’m going to go out on a limb—in any state,’ Birmingham police officer Truman Fitzgerald said.
Addressing the case at a press conference last week, Police Chief Scott Thurmond said: ‘The facts of this case were deplorable and sickening. Worst of all they were made public by the suspects decision to video tape portions of this horrific act.
‘We have determined that Mahogany was a victim of sexual assault, with murder and kidnapping. It’s hurtful to know that individuals could participate in such vile acts.’
‘This is undoubtedly one of the most heinous acts I have seen in my career, it is absolutely disgusting.’
He also revealed that Mahogany knew all of the suspects, but a motive for the murder has not yet been shared.
Furthermore, one witnesses told police Harris told him he shot Jackson, and he identified all of those involved in Jackson’s abduction.

Birmingham Police Homicide Detective Mark Green revealed that Mahogany had gone to meet the suspects thinking she was going to spend time with them as friends.
But according to the prosecutor, when she arrived the suspects filmed her being beaten naked on the floor, before one of the suspects said ‘put her in the trunk’.
Jefferson County’s district attorney Carr is pleading with the public to not share the video out of respect to the family.
He said: ‘There’s some aspects of this situation I know are devastating to that family, and to see it reenacted on a video – it almost places you there, and then to see people share it over and over, and I know some people may be sharing it for entertainment value or whatever, which is sad in and of itself.
‘At the end of the day, have some respect for them as well, have some respect for the family, have some respect for Mahogany.’
Mahogany’s mother, Gail Maddox, also shared a plea, saying: ‘Please I’m begging you all don’t send us any videos we are suffering enough that’s my child please stop I can’t take it’.
The videos have circulated online in the days after Mahogany was murdered and her body was found.

Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond, slammed the horrific crimes, and urged people to not share the videos
Around 8am on February 25 Jackson messaged family members to say she was being held hostage in apartment three at Serenity Apartments in southwest Birmingham.
Hours later her body was found in the early-morning hours of Monday, February 26, under a mattress at an illegal dump site in the 1700 block of Laurel Avenue that is known as ‘Dead Man’s Road.’
Videos of the torture and assaults were taken by several of the perpetrators before Jackson, was killed.
Authorities said Monday that Francis Harris, 25, is the suspect they believe fired the fatal shot after a projectile was recovered from Jackson’s head.
The young mother’s ordeal began when she arrived at Pope’s home on McMillon Avenue on Saturday night with several of the suspects, all of whom she knew, Birmingham homicide Det. Mark Green testified at Monday’s hearing.

Victim: 20-year-old Mahogany Jackson was abducted from Brandon Pope’s apt, tortured and executed on film by acquaintances on Feb 25, leaving behind her three-year-old daughter. Cops have not released the motives
The abduction began at the property and videos taken by the suspects show Lewis and McCall stomping and spitting on Jackson outside Pope’s home.
Jackson was on the ground, Green testified, while she was repeatedly assaulted by several of the suspects.
At one point, Teja Lewis was straddling Jackson while punching her in the head.
The distressing footage reportedly shows Jackson telling her attackers they ‘had won’ and begging to be let go.

In another video Lewis was seen taking off Jackson’s shirt and dragging the nude Jackson by her hair toward a vehicle.
Si’nya McCall was seen on the video yelling for someone to ‘pop the trunk,’ Green told the court. Jackson was then moved to Serenity Apartments where Lewis and McCall were roommates.
Four more videos of Jackson’s torture were recorded there, the detective said.
Jackson was then shown being forced to perform oral sex on defendant Blair Green in McCall’s bedroom.
McCall, the detective said, threatened something would happen to Jackson if Blair Green did not ‘enjoy’ the oral sex.
At one point, McCall made Jackson pull down her pants, and told McDowell to sexually assault her. There was no testimony indicating another sexual assault took place.
Police believe all the suspects were present at Lewis’ apartment during the assaults at varying points in the night.

Jackson was then taken from Lewis’ apartment by Pope, Harris and McDowell, and was fatally shot after sending the help messages to her family.
Lewis and McCall initially denied any knowledge of the incident when questioned by police. Then changed their statements after being shown the videos, which were sent to police by a witness.
‘This was a horrific attack perpetrated against Miss Jackson,’ Jefferson County Deputy District Attorney Charissa Henrich said on Monday.
‘She was subjected for a period of time to – there’s really no other way to say it – torture which ultimately led to her death.’
She added: ‘The nature of these offenses was horrific.’
