A Minnesota man accused of murdering 31-year-old model in her LA home before stuffing her body in her fridge has been forced out of his cell to appear in front of a judge.
Drug convict Humphrey is accused of the brutal murder of model and Beverly Hills real estate agent Maleesa Mooney.
41-year-old ex-con, Magnus Daniel Humphrey, was arrested on November 3, in Minneapolis at his home on an unrelated federal warrant and extradited to California. He had been on federal probation for narcotics offenses.
Mooney also worked as a real estate agent at Beverly Hills-based agency Nest Seekers. She had only moved into her new apartment a month before she was found dead on September 12, 2023, her family said. 
Her alleged killer, Daniel Humphrey appeared before Superior Court Judge Kerry White on Tuesday after he adamantly refused to leave jail twice before.
The judge signed an ‘extraction order’ on March 8, which left Humphrey no choice but to appear in his California courtroom.

The March 8 order said: ‘The Court orders the Sheriff’s Department to provide an oral warning that an extraction order has been signed and that Defendant Humphrey is ordered to exit his/her cell, enter a Sheriff’s transportation vehicle, and attend court.
‘If defendant Humphrey refuses to comply, the Sheriff is ordered to use all reasonable force and restraints necessary to produce Defendant in court.’
By mid-morning, bailiffs walked Humphrey, handcuffed, wearing blue LA County regulation jail uniform, out of the holding area and into the courtroom.
Bailey Babb, Mooney’s cousin, told KTLA that the family asked for a wellness check when she stopped answering her calls: ‘When a week went by, we just knew something was off.
Mooney’s family raised asked for a welfare check they stopped hearing from her and she was not retrieving her messages.
When LAPD entered Mooney’s downtown LA apartment on September 12, they also found food usually kept in the fridge on the table. Officers observed blood pooling under the refrigerator with her body inside, bound with electrical cords and clothing, according to a coroner’s report.

      Her family said Mooney [right] worked as a real estate agent at Beverly Hills-based agency Nest Seekers moved into her new home a month before her death. Her body Mooney’s body was wedged inside the refrigerator,’ the autopsy report said

      Cops opened the door and made the gruesome discovery – her body forced inside and blood pooled on the kitchen floor.
      ‘They found Ms. Mooney’s body wedged inside the refrigerator,’ the autopsy report said.
      Mooney had blunt force injuries and lacerations on her body, and the cause of death was determined to be ‘homicidal violence,’ according to officials with the L.A. County Department of Medical Examiner.
      The report also detailed the torture the victim endured. Her wrists and ankles were tied and a gag had been placed in her mouth.
      The model and realtor was last seen alive in her apartment building’s security camera on September 6, 2023. Investigators are yet to state how Mooney and Humphrey knew each other.

        The building has a resort-style pool and sundeck and central courtyard – as well as communal BBQ grills, tennis courts, and a dog park

        Popstar Jourdin Pauline, [photo], mourning her sister said: ‘Maleesa has always been someone who is a peacemaker in our family, someone that’s always been the backbone, and making sure everyone’s getting together, loving on each other’

        Her family said Mooney was pregnant, but a claim not supported by the autopsy report. The victim’s sister, singer and actress Jourdine Pauline, told NewsNation Mooney was brutally tortured before she finally died.
        ‘She was in a struggle, both her ankles were broken… her hands, her legs,’ Jourdine said in tears.
        ‘It’s very gruesome details. She was definitely in a struggle. It wasn’t something that quickly happened.’
        Humphrey was arrested on November 3 in Minneapolis at his home on an unrelated federal warrant and extradited to California. He had been on federal probation for narcotics offenses.
        A trial date has yet to be set, but Judge White ordered Humphrey back to court on June 12.
