Scorned wife is charged with murder and concealment after her ‘shocking revenge’ when her ex-Green Beret husband told her he was leaving her for another woman

After visiting Edwards’ yoga studio to discuss his conversation with the lawyer, Bonnell who was studying to become a physician’s assistant at Methodist University, left for school to study for a test

Returning to his home in the evening, he informed Edwards by text that he’d told Cloud of the impending divorce and was going to bed

School authorities called the sheriff’s office when Bonnell missed class the next day, with Kelli Edwards reported him missing on February 28,while Cloud refused to file a missing person’s report

Human remains were found February 25, in a pond about three miles from the couple’s home, was matched through DNA to missing man

A middle aged woman in Cumberland County, North Carolina has been accused of killing and dismembering her husband after he told her he was in the process of leaving her for another woman.
After the macabre murder, Shana Cloud, 50, allegedly then dumped the remains of 50-year-old former Green Beret, Clinton ‘Clint’ Bonnell, in a pond just three miles from their home.
It claims in court documents that Bonnell’s girlfriend, Kelli Edwards, told deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office that he visited an attorney on January 27, to discuss filing for a divorce from Cloud.
According to Edwards he came to her yoga studio to discuss his conversation with the divorce attorney, before he leaving to study for a test at Methodist University where he was studying to become a physician assistant course, CBS 17, reports.
Another report from WRAL states that Bonnell on returning the home he shared with Cloud that evening, in an update text informed Edwards he had told Cloud about the impending divorce and was off to bed.
When he did not show up for class the next day, a school official called in Bonnell’s absence to the local sheriff’s office.
Kelli Edwards reported Bonnell missing on January 28. Cloud meanwhile, declined filing a missing person’s report on her husband.

When authorities showed up at the couple’s home for a welfare check, Cloud allegedly told the deputies she had not seen her husband since the previous day, January 27, when he was off to the university to study. They left home in separate cars, she said.
Officers also noted that Cloud declined filing a missing person’s report.
On January 31, deputies conducting a search of the home for clues regarding the whereabouts the missing former serviceman, found Bonnell’s wallet, laptop.
The game changer was the discovery of bullet fragments inside a backpack. The laptop also showed signs of damage. The damage from the backpack was from a ‘projectile, suggesting he may have been harmed,’ investigators said.
Data from Bonnell’s cell phone showed continuous location at his residence until January. 28 at 8:15 am. The data for the mobile device stopped at that point and started again on January 30.
Court records suggested the unavailability of the mobile device’s location is likely due to the phone being powered down or loss of battery life.

The third leg of the love triangle – Bonnell’s girlfriend, Kelli Edwards – who reported him missing on January 28, supplied investigators with the sequence of events leading to his disappearance

In the ensuing weeks, deputies conducted a number of searches at the home Bonnell and Cloud shared, inside her vehicle and cellphone and rental property that Cloud owns in Virginia.  
Furthermore, deputies obtained warrants search video footage and digital devices with the aim of developing a timeline surrounding Bonnell’s disappearance.
At some point Cloud did admit to a confrontation with her husband over a note from his girlfriend, but added little else that could explain his whereabouts. 
A stranger sighting a body in a pond about three miles from Cloud and Bonnell’s home on February 25, provided the break the investigation needed.
The passerby who made the grisly discovery told officers that the body was dismembered, with no arms or legs.

In the weeks following the grisly discovery, deputies conducted several of searches at the home Bonnell and Cloud shared, Cloud’s vehicle and cellphone as well as rental property she owns in Virginia.

On February 25, a month after Bonnell was reported missing, a hiker found human remains in a pond, [image], located about three miles from the couple’s home in Cumberland County, NC. Those parts it was later proven, belonged to Bonnell

Authorities then took a DNA sample from the remains, which they ran through the Armed Forces Medical Examiner’s System, the Fayetteville Observer reports.
Finally, on Friday, the DNA sample matched that of Bonnell and deputies promptly took Cloud into custody.
She is charged with murder and concealing a death, with authorities alleging she ‘failed to notify law enforcement of Clinton Bonnell’s death while knowing or having reason to know Clinton Bonnell’s death was not due to natural causes.’
Cloud is now being held without bond at the Cumberland County Jail.
