Garon Nathaniel Killian, of Lenoir, was being held in jail without bond, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Police officers responding to calls of shooting at a home near the city of Hickory around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, found 12 shooting victims. One victim was deceased, while another person was in critical condition, according to the police report.
Many of those attending the party were local high school students, but the lone fatality was identified as 58-year-old Shawn Patrick Hood.

Catawba County law enforcement and first responders converged on a home in Lenoir after a mass shooting, Sunday, June 1. FBI said the shooting came from a hill behind a neighboring property, directed at the poolside. They collected 80 shells from the adjoining 2 acre spread
Officers executed search warrants on Tuesday as part of the investigation into the shooting as authorities said additional suspects could be arrested in the shooting.
The shooting took place during a pool pool party early Sunday in a usually quiet residential neighborhood in Lenoir, about 7 miles south of the city of Hickory.
Authorities said at least 80 shots were fired beginning at about 12:45 a.m. People reported running, ducking for cover and scrambling to their cars for safety.
The crime scene spanned several properties along a neighborhood road, covering about 2 acres, and included outdoor and indoor areas. The FBI said the shooting came from a hill behind a neighboring property, directed at the party goers at the poolside, before someone at the party returned fire.
Law enforcement recovered 80 shells from the adjoining 2 acre spread, where the shooter it is believed, was stationed
During a brief court appearance on Tuesday, Killian addressed the court, saying, “I apologize for being involved in this situation.”
As the FBI is piecing together what they think happened at the house party, it has been revealed that the suspect is out on bond in a separate mass shooting incident from April 6, where he is also accused of shooting into a crowd of people.
From the April shooting Killian is facing a total of seven counts of attempted first-degree murder, seven counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, as well as charges for going armed to the terror of the public and discharging a firearm in city limits. He was released on bond following the April arrest.
