The ex-convict who murdered an elderly Queens couple inside their own home, before setting it on fire, showing no remorse admitted to the crime, adding that he molested his victims.
“I’ll admit it. I killed them,” repeat criminal Jamel McGriff told police after his arrest on September 10, according to prosecutors.
“I don’t give a f–k. I killed them. I burnt the n—as. I molested them,” he said.
The confession by 42-year-old McGriff was recorded on police bodycam when he was arrested, two days after he allegedly tortured and killed Frank and Maureen Olton during a home invasion in the Bellerose section of Queens, New York, after which he immediately proceeded on a shopping spree with stolen money.

At the time McGriff killed the couple, he was on the streets cutesy of a free a pass on a sex offender registry violation, officials confirmed.
The convicted sex offender was out of prison for more than a year when New York City’s Department of Corrections and Community Supervision was notified by police that he failed to register his address as required on the registry in 2024.
Instead of being sanctioned for parole violation, McGriff was allowed to walk free until he was arrested on September for the shocking double murder of Frank and Maureen Olton inside their home in Bellerose, Queens, two days prior.
The elderly couple had been found bound, stabbed. One was still alive when their tormentor set their home on fire after five hours of terror inflicted by the repeat offender.

Her body was “unrecognizable” from the burns, Assistant District Attorney John Esposito told the court, The 77-year-old home owner suffered thermal burns, a fractured larynx, a possible sign of strangulation, and “soot in her trachea.”
Her husband Frank Olton, 76, had been tied to a pole in the basement before he was stabbed several times, which proved fatal.

He also pawned off two of their cellphones for cash, Assistant DA Esposito said.
McGriff next took the pleasure of visiting the Regal Union Square movie theater to watch “Light of the World”, a 2-D animated story of Jesus, also on the murdered couple’s credit card.
NYPD officers using surveillance footage from the movie theater, tracked him to Times Square later that day and placed him into custody.

Prosecutors who believe the brutal home invasion was “random”, introduced video footage showing the moment the alleged killer saw Frank Olton. The 76-year-old was in his yard fiddling with his car around 10 a.m. Monday.
McGriff had already approached several other homes in the area under the guise of needing a phone charger, but had been rejected, authorities said. Frank Olton similarly rebuffed McGriff’s request.
However, the convicted sex offender followed Olton through the home’s back door and forced his way into the home. In the footage Olton is heard telling the intruder, “Get the f–k out.”

He was out of prison for more than a year when the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision received word from the NYPD that the career criminal failed to register his address as required on the sex offender registry in 2024. Instead of being slapped with parole violation, the parolee was allowed to walk free until he was arrested for double-homicide.
The suspect was ordered to be held without bail on 18 charges, including murder, robbery, burglary, kidnapping, arson and identity theft related to the shocking slayings.
