An Atlanta based IHOP chef has been charged after allegedly shooting two teenage porch pirates outside his home as they ran away with packages.
Rakim Bradford, 34, opened fire after he came to the door to collect a delivery outside his townhouse in Atlanta and saw three youths he believed were trying steal it. One of the teens has admitted to investigators that they saw a white van drop a delivery on Bradley’s porch, and decided to steal it, according to the arrest warrant.Â
The arrest warrant cites the statement of Bradley’s co-worker who said that after the shooting he called and told them he was cleaning his gun when he received notification that the delivery had arrived.
He went to retrieve the package still holding his gun, but it ‘went off’, adding that he believed one of the fleeing teens was hit in the back.
Although Bradford fled his house, before police arrived about 3.30pm on Wednesday, he later turned himself in to a police station. He is being held at the Fulton County Jail.

Bradford, the head chef at a local IHOP who studied at the Culinary Institute of America was charged on Friday with two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Police found one shell casing at the scene when they searched the Villages of Cascades gated community in Atlanta’s western suburbs.Â
A 15-year-old boy was shot in his right foot and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment. A second teenager, 16, is hospitalized after surgery for a bullet wound his right arm. He is expected to survive.

‘We believe a property crime was occurring, that some packages were being taken off of a front porch,’ Atlanta Police Chief Darren Sherbaum said. ‘The homeowner did discharge his weapon to stop that theft of the packages.’
‘Anytime a child is injured in our city, we really take that seriously,’Â said Chief Sherbaum.
‘We want to make sure we know what is happening, individuals being held accountable, and what resources may be needed for that family.’Â
