Repeat offender! Florida woman charged with aggravated manslaughter after apparent ‘co-sleeping’ death of newborn – the second time in 7 years

Florida authorities said this is the second time Erin Piche-Pitts has lost a days-old baby resulting from an “co-sleeping” incident in the past 7 years. The latest incident occurred on October 6, 2016
Deputies in Polk County, Fla. say Piche-Pitts, found her newborn baby unresponsive after sleeping beside him. The Winter Haven mother has been arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter in the death of her second newborn baby.
ABC reports that the co-sleeping death occurred as the baby woke up in a bassinet and started to cry. Piche-Pitts removed the baby and placed him next to her, propped up by a pillow.

Furthermore, it is reported that Piche-Pitts reportedly knew the dangers of co-sleeping, having been counseled on the subject in both 2009 and 2016, through the Healthy Starts training program.
For the first infant loss she suffered in December of 2009, she fell asleep while breastfeeding her 13-day-old newborn. When she woke up, the baby was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the hospital.

Piche-Pitts of Winter Haven ,Florida, also has a rather long and wide ranging criminal rap sheet. She was previously arrested on domestic violence, battery, larceny, burglary, interference with child custody, fraud, meth possession and paraphernalia charges.
