Little Nylah Lewis remained in critical condition Thursday at Maimonides Medical Center with multiple skull fractures and bleeding on the brain — four days after Shaquan Taylor, 19, allegedly pounded on her tiny body during a Father’s Day visit.
Relatives said the girl needed a blood transfusion.
“My granddaughter is brain dead,” said Belinda Lewis outside the hospital where her daughter Tammy was sitting bedside. “My daughter is devastated. She’s breaking down.”
Lewis said Nylah was still on life support, and that if she survives, the brain damage was likely irreversible.
Lewis said she has spent the last several days alternately praying for a miracle recovery and seething over the senseless act.
“He is a monster,” Lewis said of Taylor. “Every time he goes to court I’m going to be there.

The seemingly remorseless Taylor maintains he is innocent of all accusations. Speaking from his jail cell Wednesday, Shaquan Taylor denied harming his daughter in his Brooklyn home. Instead he tried to portray himself as a doting dad done wrong.

Shaquan Taylor’s Facebook posting complaining that he wanted Tammy Lewis to get an abortion, but she refused
“I didn’t do nothing. I didn’t do nothing at all,” he cried. “Do you know what it’s like to be here for something I didn’t do?”
Taylor claimed Nylah’s injuries stemmed from a fall, but doctors said her injuries didn’t match up with what he claimed.
Cops charged Taylor with assault after he called the girl’s mother and said something was wrong with their child.
When Tammy Lewis showed up to Taylor’s Coney Island apartment, Nylah was lying on the couch, unable to breathe. She grabbed the girl and stormed out of the apartment.

Taylor chased them to the lobby, where he allegedly slugged Lewis as she clutched their toddler.
The desperation was apparent in Lewis’ texts to her mom.
“Ma, get to the hospital now, Shaquan beat me up & hurt Nylah. Just come please,” she wrote. “He hurt Nylah ma. They working on her right now. Just come please hurry.”
Taylor admitted he wanted Lewis to have an abortion, but said he later “stepped up” and agreed to be involved in Nylah’s life. He is also expecting his second child, a boy, with a different woman.
Earlier Thursday, Lewis, 17, posted a picture on Facebook of her wide-eyed daughter smiling and giggling in happier times.
“Wanna see my baby like this again,” she wrote.
Taylor who marked his 19th birthday behind bars Tuesday, is being held on a $250,000 bond.
