Christine Funk, a former Minnesota teacher, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student

A Minnesota music teacher accused of having sex with a male student had texted him partially nude photos of herself, authorities said.
Christine Funk, 31, a teacher at Henry Sibley High School in Mendota Heights, had sex with the student three times in February, according to the criminal complaint charging Funk with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
A school resource officer from Mendota Heights Police Department received information regarding inappropriate text messages occurring between the male student and Funk, a married mother-of-two. In reviewing the messages, officers found conversations that suggested she and the student had engaged in sexual relations, the charges said.
Officers also discovered that Funk sent several partially nude photos of herself to the student.
Funk initially denied the allegations but eventually came clean when police confronted her about the partially nude photos. She told investigators the sexual messages were a “fantasy.”
When confronted about texting partially nude photos of herself to the student, Funk initially denied doing so, but then admitted doing so after being shown the pictures found on the student’s cellphone.

The teen also denied having a relationship with Funk, but later admitted to investigators he had sex with Funk at her home, the school and in his car.
Funk was initially arrested in February for suspicion of possessing child pornography but was later released. According to the Pioneer-Press, she was put on leave after a complaint was filed against her. She resigned from the job in March.
Funk was arrested and charged with having sex with student She remains in the Dakota County jail, with her first appearance scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
Each count Funk faces carries up to 15 years, because under Minnesota law, it’s a felony offense for a teacher to have sexual relations with a student under the age of 18 if the teacher is more than 48 months older than the student.
On Wednesday, a judge set Funk’s bail at $75,000.
If convicted of on all counts, Funk facing up to 45 years in prison.
