A North Carolina man has been arrested in connection to a hair-brained kidnapping plot, in which officials say he abducted three of his former co-workers and shot one of them multiple times.
When reporters on Monday asked Brendan Withers, 25, to reveal the motive behind his actions, the handcuffed and visibly injured suspect said he did it because the victims texted him nude photos of his wife.
‘You don’t mess with a man’s wife. Me and my wife are about to separate and I just lost it,’ he told WBTV.

Withers was arrested at a North Carolina hospital on Saturday as he was getting treatment for multiple injuries.

According to a statement from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, the case began unfolding just after 9pm on Friday, March 27, when deputies and first responders received reports of a fight in progress and shots fired in Sawmills.
Responding officers located a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wound and had him airlifted to a trauma center for treatment.
Witnesses in the area told deputies that the suspected shooter was a white male wearing a dark-colored hoodie, and that he was last seen running into a wooded area.
Further investigation revealed that three people were kidnapped from a lawn care business in Hickory, forced into a van, had their arms and legs restrained with duct tape and taken to Caldwell County, where two of them were able to flee unharmed and the third was shot.
