A former Navy SEAL has been sentenced to 60 years in state prison after confessing to molesting his own daughter from when she was just five years old.
Gregory Kyle Seerden, 33, stood expressionless in a San Diego, California court on Tuesday as the victim’s mother delivered an impact statement on behalf of the girl, who is now 12 years old. The case did not go to trial as Seerden pleaded guilty.
‘I’ve seen a man that was sworn to uphold a better standard of values getting away with the most heinous acts of crime that I can think of,’ his ex-wife Alicia Reppert said at the sentencing.
‘How many broken lives lie at the feet of the defendant? We can start healing today by making him answer for his crimes for every day for the rest of his pathetic existence. ‘We are no longer his victims. We won and today we all win. We are the elite. We are the best of the best.’

Former Petty Officer 1st Class Gregory Kyle Seerden, 33, pled guilty earlier this year to seven felony counts of lewd acts on a child. The victim was between 5 and 7 years old when molested and is now 12 years old.
She was not present for Seerden’s sentencing, but her mother delivered a victim impact statement at the hearing. While the victim wasn’t present on Tuesday, CBS 8reports, her May testimony led to the former Petty Officer 1st Class confessing to seven out of nine felony counts of lewd acts on a child.
The daughter of the ex-member of SEAL Team 1, a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan outed her the sexual abuse by her dad that began when she was just five and continued until she was seven years old.
The accused child molester, Gregory Seerden, a US Navy vet from Missouri – is currently serving a 27-year federal sentence for producing and possessing child pornography.
In addition to his February 2018 sentence, Seerden was ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and serve 25 years of supervised release.
However, things have only gotten worse for Seerden as he now must serve his state and federal prison terms consecutively and must register for life as a sex offender.
He was found out after an adult woman claimed he raped her.

Seerden was stationed in San Diego but was staying with family in Virginia for the holidays January 2017 when he was accused by a woman he knew of sexually assaulting her after a night out drinking and socializing at the Little Creek naval base on Virginia Beach.
Investigators found images on his cellphone that include a naked child and an aroused dog.
Among the dozens of incriminating videos and photographs on his cellphone, one included a grown man masturbating next to a sleeping girl as he molested her.
While the man’s face could not be seen in the video, he was wearing a light blue shirt, according to court documents.
Photos with time stamps from the same day show Seerden in a light blue shirt reading a book to the victim and three other children.
Those videos were taken the night before the alleged assault, he later admitted, while he was sleeping in the same room as his victim.
It’s unclear if the rape investigation resulted in criminal charges.

The federal case stemmed from an investigation initiated by the Navy in 2017 into allegations that Seerden raped a woman in Virginia.
In January 2017, Seerden was accused by a woman he knew of sexually assaulting her after a night out drinking and socializing at the Little Creek naval base on Virginia Beach.
He was stationed in San Diego at the time, but was in Virginia for a week of training at the Little Creek base in Virginia Beach.
The former Petty Officer was also charged in San Diego with sexually abusing another family member in 2014, when she was seven years old.
It was unclear if the rape investigation resulted in criminal charges, but it did lead to a search of Seerden’s cell phone revealed child pornography – videos and photographs, including a video of him abusing another 5 year-old relative, while she slept.
Seerden was arrested on April 3, 2017, for the case involving child pornography.
Subsequently, he was convicted and is currently serving a 27-year sentence.
That domestic sexual abuse allegation was investigated by the Navy at the time but dropped because the child’s mother was reluctant to pursue charges, according to prosecutors. But the case was reopened after his arrest when his daughter came forward with the allegations.
‘She faced her abuser and bravely testified about the things that happened to her,’ Deputy DA Amy Colby said about Seerden’s daughter.
‘While he may at some point have been hired to protect the country, and at some point people looked at him as a hero, she’s the true hero here. Because of her testimony and her bravery, she is preventing any future crimes like this from happening.’

PTSD excuse:In court filings, the defense claimed Seerden [L-R], was abused in his childhood and suffered injuries in combat. His mother wrote in a letter to court: ‘It was his experience in Iraq that I believe really changed him’
In court filings, public defender Keith Kimball had said Seerden was abused in his childhood and suffered injuries in combat.
‘After some rough times in his adolescent period, Kyle enlisted in the Navy. When he came back from Afghanistan he was hurting inside but still trying to be himself,’ his mother Jennifer Seerden wrote in a letter to the court.
‘Some of his friends were lost and others severely injured and it seemed to really impact him. However, it was his experience in Iraq that I believe really changed him.’
