Marcus Durayalle Lofton, 42, from Grand Rapids has been accused of shooting and killing his wife, Alicia Danielle Lofton, on Aug 17, the day after she served him with divorce papers
Alicia served Marcus the papers six months after their wedding after discovering he was having an affair with another man
Alicia wedded Marcus in February, but had taken a still active protection order against her husband in May when Marcus was arrested for domestic violence against her
Marcus Lofton was arraigned Friday on charges of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
He is being held without bond with his next court appearance scheduled for Sept 5

A Michigan man, Marcus Durayalle Lofton, is being held without bail after he allegedly shot and killed his wife, Alicia Danielle Lofton, the day after she served him with divorce papers.
The couple tied the knot in February 2023. Alicia served him divorce papers on August 16.
Unconfirmed reports making the round online say she found out he was having an affair with another man.
Alicia’s Facebook friends say she filed for divorce after she found out he was involved in a romantic relationship with another man.
On the popular “Whose Man Is This” Facebook page, a man who looks similar to Marcus was secretly recorded having an intimate encounter with a gay man. The other man later uploaded the video on Facebook, where Alicia’s friends alerted her to it.
Interviewed by police Marcus Lofton told them that Alicia had served him divorce papers on August 16, and she told him she was selling the house. The next day August 17, he went to the home around about 8 am, despite the standing no contact order.
The couple argued, then he grabbed Alicia’s Glock 9mm handgun from a drawer and tried to pistol whip her with it.

The According to the affidavit, Lofton told police the gun went off striking Alicia. His wife then fled into a bedroom and locked the door.
Lofton then told detectives he forced the door open and found his wife trying to climb out a window. Alicia had numerous fatal gunshot wounds to the head and body, police said in a probable cause affidavit.
“Marcus stated he shot Alicia numerous times before he fled in his maroon SUV,” the police affidavit states.

Investigators identified Marcus Lofton as a possible suspect and an officer found him walking in the 1200 block of North Avenue NE.
Detectives then interviewed Marcus Lofton. He told them that his wife had served him divorce papers on Aug. 16 and she told him she was selling the house. Because he had been arrested in May for alleged domestic violence against his wife, he wasn’t suppose to be in contact with her.
Marcus Lofton, 42, was arraigned on a first-degree murder charge and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is being held in jail without bond.
Marcus Lofton is scheduled to appear in Michigan court again on September 5 for a preliminary hearing.
