Casualty list was later updated after a male body recovered was identified as the missing chef
There were 22 people on board in total and 15 were rescued including a one-year-old girl and her parents

Rescuers have recovered one body has died and six other people are missing after a British yacht sank overnight, off the coast of Sicily during bad weather. Boat owner British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, 59, is among those missing, as sources say his wife, Angela Bacares, was rescued.
Initially authorities in Sicily said Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, remains missing, along with the boat’s chef. This has been updated after the male body recovered was identified as the boat’s chef
Of the 22 persons on board, 15 people were rescued including a one-year-old child.
Authorities say the missing could still be trapped in their cabins in the yacht, which is more than 50 meters underwater.
“We should have found something by now”
One English woman says she held her daughter “with all her strength” to stop her drowning.

The tragedy comes just weeks after Mike Lynch was acquitted of criminal charges by a jury in San Francisco, vindicating the entrepreneur after a 12-year legal battle over the $11bn sale of his firm, Autonomy, to Hewlett-Packard back in 2011.
In 1991, Lynch helped establish Cambridge Neurodynamics, a firm that specialized in using computer-based detection and recognition of fingerprints. Five years later, he co-founded the British tech firm Autonomy. In 2011, Lynch sold his company to US computing giant Hewlett-Packard for $11bn [Ā£8.6bn].
Following the sale, an intense legal battle about the high-profile acquisition loomed over Lynch for over a decade.
Lynch was facing two decades in jail. However, he was acquitted in the US in June on multiple fraud charges.
The entrepreneur in 2006 who received national honors, an OBE, in recognition of his service to UK enterprise, going on to serve his country in several capacities including his appointment to the board of the BBC as a non-executive director.
In 2011 he was appointed to the UK government’s council for science and technology, in 2011, advising then PM David Cameron on the risks and possibilities of AI development.

The passengers on board the mega sailboat Bayesian were mainly British.Others were from New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Canada, the US as well as two dual British and French nationals. Some reportedly, colleagues and their family members who were on holiday together in Sicily when the freak storm struck in the early hours of August 19.
One survivor was identified Charlotte Golunski, a colleague of Mike Lynch. The British mother kept her baby daughter alive after the boat sank, by holding the one-year-old above the waves until the pair were able to get into a rescue boat. Golunski, told Italian newspaper la Repubblica: “I held her [her daughter] afloat with all my strength, my arms stretched upwards to keep her from drowning.
āIt was all dark. In the water I couldnāt keep my eyes open. I screamed for help but all I could hear around me was the screams of others.”

Golunski and her toddler daughter were taken to be assessed at the Children’s Hospital in Palermo. Precautionary tests show the baby is doing fine,
The child’s father was reportedly taken to the Civic Hospital in the city, while five other people were taken to the Bagheria territorial emergency point.Ā
Other survivors who did not require hospital treatment spoke to authorities giving their perspective of the incident to the team of investigators.

Nautical maps show the last known location of the Bayesian just after 2am local time, when it was at anchor.
The boat is thought to have arrived in Porticello after a stopping in Milazzo, around 100 miles up the coast towards the Italian mainland.
The Italian Coastguard said in a statement that a nearby boat offered assistance to people before emergency services arrived.Ā A helicopter, coastguard vessels and firefighters were seen scouring the scene of the wreck for those who are still missing.
Expert divers reached theĀ hullĀ later Monday morning. Specialist teams ‘able to get into small spaces underwater,’ brought in later in the day as the search for the missing continues.
