Cops said the car, which was supposed to be returned to Enterprise 17 days earlier, was packed with “booze and drugs,” including pills, marijuana and a bottle of alcohol
The driver, Autumn Donna Ascencio Romero, reportedly, already has a pending case involving another serious auto crash – she was charged three months earlier and freed without bail
Romero, 23, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license in the April 13 Brooklyn crash, which reportedly left a 22-year-old pedestrian with injuries
It was deja vu on Saturday, when after mowing down a man on a bicycle and Mary Kwok, 63, killing both, Romero and her passenger, Kennedy LaCraft, fled on foot
Both fleeing suspects were quickly taken into custody nearby by police
Charges against Romero, who turned 23 on Friday, are pending

The female driver accused in Saturday’s hit-run that killed two people in New York’s Chinatown had been charged in another serious car crash just three months ago and freed without bail, records show.
Early Saturday, the same motorist was at the wheels of a rental that had been reported stolen, speeding across the Manhattan Bridge when she lost control and careened down the pavement, striking and killing two people before smashing into a police NYPD van.
According to witness accounts, just before 7:30 am Saturday, a blue Chevrolet Malibu plowed into a man in his 30s on a bicycle and a 63-year-old woman, identified as Mary Kwok, who was sitting on a bench at Bowery and Canal Street.

In the wake of Saturday’s crash, it has been reported that the same driver, identified by sources as Autumn Donna Ascencio Romero, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license in the April 13 Brooklyn crash, which reportedly left a 22-year-old pedestrian with injuries.
Romero fled the scene, bu she was arrested the next day with the help of a witness.
However she was released and returned to the streets after her arraignment curtsy of the state’s bail-reform laws, the court records reveal.

Romero’s passenger, Kennedy LaCraft, who joined in fleeing the scene was also taken into custody. She is charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle

While charges against the driver, Romero, are pending, LaCraft was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Records show Romero was arraigned and released April 14 with a court date for it August 5.
In the Saturday morning crash, the car had been rented but not returned and thus been reported stolen, police said.

Police did not identify the man killed on his bicycle, but the other fatal victim was identified by her brother as Mary Kwok, 63.
Her sibling, Peter Kwok, told The Post his sister was sitting on a bench when she was struck and killed.
“That’s her hangout spot,” he said. “She goes to church in Chinatown.”
Kwok said his sister struggled with mental illness in recent years and would sometimes leave the home in the wee hours.
“I had thought about the scenario, you know, what could happen to her,” Peter said. “You know, in the city anything can happen like that.”
