A $1.5 million beach house that belongs to a South Carolina circuit judge burned down on Saturday after a suspected arson explosion. There were several reports that Judge Diane Goodstein had received death threats over the past few weeks following her decision to prevent the state from handing over sensitive voter registration documents to the federal government.
Authorities are now working to determine what may have caused the huge fire that razed the three story structure in the luxury gated community on Edisto Beach in Colleton county. 
Goodstein, 69, a Democrat-appointed circuit court judge, was out walking her dogs on the beach when the suspected arson attack happened, just weeks after she had issued a decisive ruling against the Trump administration.
Three members of her family were injured and to the hospitalized, including her husband, former state senator Arnold Goodstein, 81, and their son Arnold Goodstein II, who jumped out of the blaze from a window.

Weeks after Judge Diane Goodstein ruled against the Federal Govt. in a voter registration case against the South Carolina govt. Her family’s $1.5 million property in Edisto Beach exploded in a ball of fire and burned to the ground

Judge Diane Goodstein had ruled in favor of the state contesting the request by Trump’s Department of Justice that South Carolina officials turn over the personal data of more than 3.3 million voters, including names, addresses, birth dates, driver’s license numbers and the last four digits of their Social Security numbers.
Goodstein, who has served on the state judicial bench since 1989, in September issued a temporary injunction on the release of the state’s voter files to the Trump administration-led US justice department.
The decision put Goodstein at odds with both the Trump administration and South Carolina GOP Governor Henry McMaster, who filed an emergency petition to appeal the lawsuit and the temporary restraining order on September 5. 
The Supreme Court of South Carolina later reversed Goodstein’s ruling.
While there is no suggestion of a MAGA link to the fire, Congressman Daniel Goldman, took to X to call out president Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller for ‘doxxing’ judges.
‘Stephen Miller and MAGA-world have been doxxing and threatening judges who rule against Trump, including Judge Goodstein,’ Rep. Daniel Goldman, a Democrat, wrote. 
‘Today, someone committed arson on the Judge’s home, severely injuring her husband and son. Will Trump speak out against the extreme right that did this??’
Stephen Miller was quick to respond, branding Goldman’s suggestion ‘deeply warped and vile.’
But Goldman then called Miller out again for failing to directly respond to his claims.  

Explosion and fire that engulfed the home occurred around 11.30am on Saturday when Judge Goodstein was out for a walk on the beach. Her husband, children and grandchildren escaped by jumping from windows and balconies, leading to injuries

According to a statement by the state court on Saturday, ‘Chief Justice John W Kittredge is aware of an incident involving Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodstein. At this time, SLED, [South Carolina Law Enforcement Division], is on the scene and will begin investigating as soon as the fire has been contained,’
‘Local law enforcement partners have been alerted and asked to provide extra patrols and security. The Judicial Branch will remain in close communication with SLED’
Kittredge said the fire appeared to have been caused by an “explosion”, and sources close to Goodstein revealed that the judge had received recent death threats.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is currently investigating the blaze, which completely razed the home as likely arson  

Footage from the scene showed powerful flames engulfing the beachfront home on Saturday. 
Firefighters from St. Paul Fire District it was reported, assisted the Edisto Beach Fire Department in the battle to extinguish the blaze on Edisto Island, a waterfront community about an hour’s drive southwest of Charleston.
This area reportedly, is located on a barrier island with significant challenges such as limited water supply and tight areas,” St. Paul officials said in a Facebook post. To overcome this handicap, first responders used kayaks to rescue the occupants from their backyard as the house went up in flames.
