Two men were charged Sunday morning with the shooting death of Dwyane Wade’s cousin, Nykea Aldridge. Brothers Derren Sorells, 22, and Darwin Sorells Jr., 26, were both charged with one count of first degree murder and one count of attempted first degree murder, Chicago Police Department announced on Twitter, Sunday. The two men are brothers. In addition both men were charged with one misdemeanor count of criminal trespass.

Police said the older of the brothers, Darwin Sorells, served time behind bars for a gun charge and is on parole. The younger brother is also a parolee, and is a “documented member” of the Gangster Disciples gang.
Nykea Aldridge, 32, and a mother of four, was an innocent victim caught in gunfire from the suspects, Friday as she pushed her 3-week-old baby girl on a stroller in Chicago’s south side, police said. Aldridge, first cousin to NBA star Dwayne Wade of the Chicago Bulls, died from shots to her head and arm. The baby was unharmed.Police said Friday there were two men being held for questioning in the death. The intended target of the bullets remains unknown.

Wade weighed in denouncing the shooting as:
“another act of senseless gun violence” in a city that has seen more than 2,700 shootings this year. “4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughisEnough,” Wade tweeted.
Donald Trump, meanwhile, dragged the unfortunate event into the political arena, in an attempt to bolster the recent push by his campaign to woo minority voters.

First Trump tweeted a direct appeal for the African-American vote from the death of the young mother of four
Trump then retweeted an amended version
“Dwayne Wade’s cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago. Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!” the Republican presidential nominee tweeted Saturday. Having misspelt the NBA player’s name correctly, with a barrage of criticism for the obvious lack of empathy for the victim’s family Trump deleted the typo tweet after three hours and reposted it with proper spelling adding a condolence message to the tweet
