Police found the unattended girl on the second-floor concourse of the Midtown bus terminal at about 10:10 a.m. Monday, officials said.
A conversation with the child led cops to find her mother dead, in her Stamford apartment, police said. Authorities are looking to question the little girl’s dad, Elmer Gomez Ruono, 32.

“We certainly want to talk to him at this point,” Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin said.
The victim, a Guatemalan national in her 30s, just moved from New Jersey to the Courtland Glen Cooperative on Courtland Ave. in Stanford over the weekend, according to NBC News York. She is separated from the, Ruono, the child’s father

According to investigators, “The apartment’s not completely unpacked,” adding that they found signs of a struggle.
Her cause of death remains under investigation. A group of friends and relatives were at the apartment Sunday night and she was killed after the guests left, the TV station wrote.
Authorities believe Ruono traveled to Port Authority with the girl and left her there. Surveillance video puts him at the station at 8.30 am, his daughter was found abandoned around 10.00 am.
The child was unharmed and in good health, Port Authority spokesman Joseph Pentangelo said.
“She’s of course upset being abandoned down there,” Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin said. “She was well-fed and clothed.”
