Search crews located a field of debris Tuesday while hunting for a small plane that vanished near the Bahamas carrying four people. The discovery was made about 15 miles east of Eleuthera, Bahamas, sometime before 3 p.m. The search for survivors was continuing, the Coast Guard said.
The small was carrying a well-known New York event space designer and her two sons, vanished near the Bahamas, officials said Tuesday.
Jennifer Blumin, 40, and her two young sons were heading to Florida from Puerto Rico when the aircraft disappeared from Miami Traffic Control’s radar about 2:10 p.m. Monday, officials said.

The twin-engine turboprop plane lost radio contact with the control tower some 37 miles east of Eleuthera, Bahamas, officials and relatives said.
The MU-2B plane was destined for the Florida town of Titusville after departing Borinquen about 11 a.m., officials said.
The plane was being piloted by Blumin’s partner Nathan Ulrich, an engineer who was married to actress Rae Dawn Chong from 2011 to 2014. The entrepreneur has been described by family and acquaintances as an excellent pilot, suggesting a mishap would likely have been caused by equipment malfunction.

“He’s an excellent pilot. You couldn’t get a better pilot,” said ex-wife, Chong.
“I’ve flown many hundreds of miles with him. It had to be a plane issue.”
“The whole thing is horrible,” Chong, 56, added. “I’m in shock.”
Ulrich’s parents only found out about their son’s disappearance from a reporter’s Tuesday afternoon phone call.
“That’s very troubling,” his father Gael Urlich said after learning the news.
Pilot Nathan Ulrich, of New Hampshire, and Jennifer Blumin of New York, who is the Founder and CEO of event management firm, Skylight, were identified as two of the two adults onboard.
Blumin’s sons, Phineas, four, and two-year-old Theodore, were also on the plane, authorities confirmed. As of 2015, Blumin was married to James Ramsey, a principal of the design studio Raad. Ramsey is the father of the boys.
The US Coast Guard says the twin-engine MU-2B turboprop, manufactured by Mitsubishi, was 37 miles east of the island of Eleuthera on Monday when air traffic control in Miami lost radar and radio contact with the plane around 2.10pm.

 Authorities were searching Tuesday in the Bahamas for the small overdue plane with four people aboard. The people on board the plane were identified as the pilot Nathan Ulrich, of NH, and Jennifer Blumin of NY, along with her two-year-old and four-year-old sons.
The US Coast Guard of the Southeast tweeted that the search is taking place 37 miles east of Eleuthera, Bahamas.
The airplane departed Borinquen, Puerto Rico, at approximately 11am Monday and never made it to its destination of Titusville, along the northeastern coast of Florida.
Their plane was at about 24,000 feet when air traffic control lost contact.
‘There’s no indication of significant adverse weather at the time,’ said Lt Cmdr Ryan Kelly, a Coast Guard spokesman.

Coast Guard aircraft are currently searching along with Customs and Border Patrol and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force. A Coast Guard cutter was also dispatched to the area and was expected to arrive later Tuesday to assist with the search.
Blumin has been featured in numerous media outlets that profiled the Skylight Group, which she founded in 2004. The group specializes in re-conceiving historical spaces and converting them for high-end event use.
Skylight has a portfolio of venues that include Skylight West, Skylight One Hanson in Brooklyn and Skylight at Moynihan Station.
Skylight at Moynihan Station is located in the historic James A. Farley Post Office on West 33rd Street across from Penn Station.

In his last radio transmission, Ulrich said the plane was traveling at an altitude of 24,000 feet at a speed of 300 knots, officials said.
The Coast Guard turned up no sign of the plane Monday while searching the waters between Florida and the Bahamas, officials said.
The air-and-sea search was relaunched early Tuesday with help from the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, officials said.
Four aircraft and two boats were scouring an area of 800 square miles outside of the Bahamas, officials said.

As of 2015, Blumin was living in Tribeca with her husband James Ramsey, a principal of the design studio Raad, and their two sons, Phineas, 4, and Theodore, 2.
The New Hampshire-based Ulrich is the founder and co-owner of Xootr, a company that manufactures kick scooters and folding bicycles.
A mechanical engineer and University of Pennsylvania alum, Ulrich is also the technical director of Radon Sport LLC, a race car design and manufacturing firm.
