Bradley Jenkins, of Illinois has been charged with third-degree domestic assault in the death of his wife of just two weeks, 27-year-old fellow prison guard, Allissa Martin
Martin died early Sunday after falling from seventh floor of parking garage near Busch Stadium in St Louis during a violent argument
Her husband who was found covered in blood, straddling Martin’s lifeless body on the concrete denies culpability – but police later found the wife’s phone on the roof of the garage, which was still recording
Martin, heard on the recording yelling at Jenkins to stop punching her face before she drops the phone , could be heard screaming as she plummets to her death
The recording, also reportedly captures the ‘thump of ‘Martin’s [body] hitting the ground’
The couple from Taylorville, Illinois were in St Louis on Sunday attending a Cardinals-Cubs game
The death of Martin has not been classified as a homicide at this time, pending the result of an autopsy, while Jenkins is being held on $100,000 cash-only bond
Jenkins who has four sons from a previous relationship got engaged to Martin in October 2018, according to their social media posts.
The couple both worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections. Jenkins a lieutenant, has worked as a corrections officer since 2010, while Martin joined the department in 2017.
Jenkins is being held on $100,000 cash-only bond.
The death of Martin is not being classified as a homicide at this time. However, police reportedly, have ordered an autopsy which will help determine whether her husband should be charged with murder.
