A Colombian influencer, known for documenting immigration raids around US on social media, has been arrested by ICE while livestreaming.
Leidy Tatiana Mafla-Martinez who is undocumented, was filming inside her Tesla when she was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in Los Angeles on Friday.


Martinez is heard shrieking ‘no, no, no’ repeatedly, before and crying ‘wait, wait,’ in Spanish as agents ordered her out of the car.
The Colombian national who entered US undocumented in 2022, was released under the Biden administration after a DUI conviction in Los Angeles.
Describing the influencer as a ‘Criminal alien’, The Department of Homeland Security issued the following statement on the arrest whose brutal execution has been criticized by many watchers: ‘On August 15, ICE arrested Leidy Tatiana Mafla-Martinez, a criminal illegal alien from Colombia who was convicted for driving under the influence in Los Angeles,’ Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement, emphasizing that she was a criminal alien who entered the country illegally in 2022 during the Biden administration, but was later released .’

The ICE agents had to lift Martinez out of her Tesla, cuffed and arrested her as she writhed on the ground. She complained of breathlessness and had to be taken to hospital

More footage from the arrest show that officers had to lift Martinez out of her Tesla, then handcuff and arrest her as she was writhing on the ground. 
‘During her arrest, Martinez claimed to experience shortness of breath. She was given proper medical treatment and will be held in ICE custody pending removal proceedings,’ McLaughlin said.
Onlookers tried to interfere with the arrest, with one person towing away a government vehicle, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

‘During the arrest, an individual unlawfully towed a government police vehicle. He mocked and videotaped ICE officers chasing after him,’ McLaughlin said.
‘Secretary Noem has been clear: Anyone who seeks to impede law enforcement will be found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.’
Martinez, who has over 40,000 followers on TikTok, grew her following while posting videos about immigration raids and anti-ICE protests around California.

Tatiana Martinez is a well known California based blogger, catering to a mostly Hispanic audience, who has focused on the rising wave of immigration raids in the US, which ramped up since the current administration..
In her latest post, Martinez highlighted the recent deployment of National Guards troops in the Washington DC area.
The arrest video went viral online, sparking widespread reactions on social media. ICE actions have intensified since President Trump returned to office in January, prompting protests across the US, including a 24-hour community stoppage at MacArthur Park in Los Angeles.

Critics point to to the harsh manner of the arrest, rather than the arrest itself
The rough tactics deployed by the force of ICE agents, overwhelming the woman who was livestreaming from her car when they pulled her out, struggling and shrieking her protestations as they and pinned her to the ground, gained nationwide attention. Critics say the force used was excessive, while supporters argue she was being targeted for her activism documenting ICE raids.
On the other side of the ledger, some have wondered why she was open and vocal in her ant-ICE rhetoric, given her undocumented status.
DHS in their response to the public outcry wrote: “Under President Trump and Sec. Noem, if you break the law, you will face the consequences.”
