The retired doctor’s yacht, the JessConn, which he named after his two children, was raided on September 5 in Nantucket after a woman on board called a male friend for help.Â
The woman told the man, ‘they were doing drugs all weekend long and people on the boat had been making pornographic films’, according to a police warrant, reports the Nantucket Current. , adding that she wanted to leave the boat, before she passed out. That development prompted friend to contact authorities to report that she had overdosed.Â

The man told the Nantucket Police Department that the boat had ketamine, Adderall, ecstasy and cocaine on board.Â
The law enforcement raid party reported finding several prostitutes on the boat, but no charges have been brought against Burke on those claims.Â
A police report previously stated that cops raided the boat in response to reports of a distressed woman who ‘did not feel safe’ on board and possibly suffered an overdose.Â
Burke was charged with one count of trafficking a Class B drug, one count of possession to distribute a Class A drug, one count of possession of ammunition without a license and four counts of possession of a large-capacity feeding device.Â

The married father-of-two claimed that the woman who overdosed had been working for him for a few weeks, and her female friend was staying on the boat. He was released on a $200,000 bail last week after his lawyer told a Nantucket court that he has terminal stage four cancer – and just months to live.Â
Burke who has pled not guilty to the charges, was ‘extremely uncooperative’ when police boarded the yacht. He was placed in handcuffs and detained because of his behavior, according to an affidavit.Â

Both women also denied knowing about the drugs, though one claimed she had a prescription for Adderall. Â

Multiple rounds of ammo were found on the bedroom floor of the yacht. Burke allegedly admitted that he was the owner of the firearms.Â
Burke told authorities he owned the boat and had a license to carry firearms. However, investigators have said, his license to carry in Florida expired in 2022. Â
He is currently living at the Ocean Reef Club, a private, gated estate in Key Largo in Florida, an area known for opulent residences that run in double-digit millions.
Police said in a prior statement that a woman was taken to Nantucket Cottage Hospital after reports that she needed ‘medical assistance’ on September 5, at 7.45am.Â
They added:Â ‘As a result of this information, the boat was identified and located within the Nantucket Harbor Anchorage.Â
‘Authorities responded to the boat and located the involved woman and identified the owner who was also onboard.

Burke’s attorney Henry Brennan told the court during a hearing that his client has an unspecified type of terminal cancer.

Authorities boarded the boat in the harbor of the ritzy Massachusetts island, with the 80-ft motor yacht being registered in the Cayman Islands
Speaking to Nantucket District Judge James Sullivan last week, Brennan reportedly revealed Burke’s health battle, arguing that given Burke’s lack of a record, the court should opt against holding him for pretrial detention.
‘To have this man potentially spend the rest of his life waiting for a case in jail, to me, would be very, very tragic,’ the lawyer argued.
Burke, who owns a $2.3million mansion in Englewood, Colorado, appears to have named the vessel after his children.Â

He is also the manager of Florida based JessConn Charters, though it is unclear how much or if he was charging customers to travel on a vessel used in that venture. It recently ran aground in Florida in May, but appears to have escaped without significant damage in the incident.
Coast Guard Station Brant Point is assisting the Nantucket Police Department in its investigation, confirmed Executive Petty Officer Jeff Wecal.
Burke who has a hearing in Nantucket scheduled for October, is allowed to remain in Florida until then.
